Top Ten Tuesday #1

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and is a chance for everyone to get to know fellow bloggers and share lists. I love lists. Every week is a different list.

This week is Top Ten Goals/Resolutions For 2014.

  1. Have no more than three books on my Currently Reading at any one time
I'm terrible at reading loads of books all at once. But it means that some get neglected and I don't finish them for months.
  2. Request less books on Net Galley
I get very click happy on that wonderful site and then I spy my Feedback Ratio...
  3. Visit the library more
I have this wonderful resource just over a mile walk away and I definitely don't use it enough.
  4. Volunteer as a Reading Activist
Or in any capacity at a library or charity bookshop. I'd love to help out with NETBA as I loved it so much when I took part as a teen, but I know it's unlikely.
  5. Read 200 books
Although I could maybe have set that a little higher...
  6. Finish the books my friends have lent me
I'm terrible for this. I have huge piles of books I've borrowed from friends just sitting unread.
  7. Catch up with review requests
I have about 10 to catch up on. Whoops! But I'm flashing through them and have done 2 already this year.
  8. Get a bookshelf
I seriously don't have a single bookshelf. My books live in piles and lined up against walls and tucked away in trunks and boxes.
  9. Read the book first
I don't go to the cinema often, but from now on I'm going to read the book first.
  10. Listen to more Audiobooks
I'm relatively new to audiobooks, so I'm going to get right in there and listen to more!
What are your bookish resolutions?

Keep an eye out this week for our first corgi up-date with pictures. Merlin and Pixie have lost lots of weight already, bless them.

  1. Good luck with all your resolutions for the year :) one of mine is to use the library much more too, I'm terrible and almost never set foot in there.

  2. Oh gosh, I'm bad to request books like crazy on NetGalley as well, and then I can't keep up with them! And then I feel horrible about it lol. I really need to catch up on them all as well. I have a bad habit of requesting a lot of NetGalley books and then join a bunch of book tours and it just gets to be too much. I'm trying to not request so much at once and only request stuff that I absolutely HAVE to read haha

  3. These are some wonderful resolution! I need to get back into the habit of visiting the library more, I used to go all the time then I stopped, but that's something I need to change this year. I literally just got a new bookshelf today, and I've already filled it with books from my TBR pile. *gulp* Still, seeing the books sitting on a shelf will encourage me to read more of them!

Thanks for stopping by my top ten!

  4. Good resolutions!

A friend of mine can read multiple books at one time. I tried and failed. :-(

Sure would be nice if I could though, because it might help me get through my huge pile of unfinished books. Friends know not to lend me books, unless I can take years to read them. :-)

I started out the year catching up on half of my review requests. About six left to go! That will happen in the spring. Until then, I've actually been turning down requests. :-(

Bookshelves are overrated. :-) I have six of them, but it hasn't stopped me from piling and boxes books.

    As for my resolutions...

Our new cat has inspired me wish to play more! I just wish it weren't so darn difficult. :-)

Otherwise, I have a second novel draft to finish. I'd like to get Work4hire contracts. And... I like your idea of being a reading activist, except I'd like to be a writing activist. :-)

    Have a perfect 2014!

Thank you so much for your comment.

If you've left a link back to your own blog, expect a visit from me very soon - I spend pretty much all day reading blogs and taking part in bookish discussions!
