Top Ten Tuesday #50

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and is a chance for everyone to get to know fellow bloggers and share lists. I love lists. Every week is a different list.

This week is Top Ten Bookish Blogging Resolutions For 2015.

Confession time: I'm bad at this. I always start with the best of intentions and then it all goes down hill. So this time I'm going to try harder.
  1. Have no more than three books on my Currently Reading at any one timeThere was one point last year when I was juggling nine books all at once. NINE. It was ridiculous and I couldn't settle into any of them.
  2. Request less books on Net Galley
My feedback ratio is now at 39%, so I've put a self-imposed ban on myself. Then all of the wonderful publicists and authors send me invites and it's be rude to decline...
  3. Finish the books my friends have lent me
I'm terrible for this. I have huge piles of books I've borrowed from friends just sitting unread. Six months on. While I read another ~50 books that were never even on my TBR anyway.
  4. Get another bookshelf
This time last year I didn't have a single bookshelf, just books piled everywhere. Now I have two. And I desperately need more. Because books are still piled everywhere.
  5. Listen to more Audiobooks
I have really started getting into audiobooks, and I plan to try and always have one on the go this year.
  6. Blog more than reviews and memes
I plan to start posting more discussions, perhaps hosting more guest posts. I love to talk books, I probably spend more time talking about them than reading them. So I'm going to follow more blogs, take part in more discussions, and meet even more of you wonderful fellow bloggers!
  7. Read more UKYA
I already read quite a lot of UKYA but there is definitely space in my life for more.
  8. Go to more author events
This is something that's quite difficult living in the wilds (ish) of Northumberland but I love these events so much. Getting the chance to talk to the authors that I've read is just amazing.
  9. Sort out my shelves
Both physically and on Goodreads, because it's all just a mess. I need to trim down my TBR because the ~10,000 books on there are honestly never all going to be read. I need to be more realistic. And I need to get rid of my multiple copies and books I know I'll never read or share again.
  10. Blog ahead
This is something that I resolve to do every few months and I invariably run out of steam by post five. But I know that spending just one day blogging ahead each month would make life so much easier.

  2. Nine books?! I'm a strict one book kinda gal. On rare occasion two. I would be so lost and confused with nine lol.

It's also one of my blogging goals to start posting more than just reviews and memes and to make more blogger friends. Have you joined the 2016 Discussion Challenge? The idea of posting discussions is a little daunting, but I'm going for it! Good luck on whatever you do decide to post and all your other goals!

    1. It does get hard if I read books that have similar plot lines or characters or narrative voice, but it's rare for a single book to really hold my attention.

I hadn't even heard of it, but I've just had a quick peek at Feed Your Fiction Addiction and I'm definitely signing up!

  3. Holy shiz! You were reading nine books at one time at one point? My head is spinning just thinking of it. I am really lousy at reading more than one book at a time, but have managed to read up to two. I tend to do it more often when one of the books is super long.
These are all really great goals. I hope that you find some author events in your neck of the woods. We live in a small area too, so such events require quite a bit of travel.

  4. I'd love to start diversifying my blog content, but to be honest I just don't know where to start! Audiobooks are also on my resolution list this year too. Good luck!

  5. These all sound like fantastic resolutions. I am confident you will conquer them all! I share your need to blog ahead, sort out my shelves, and post/join in on more discussions. Your blog is absolutely adorable, by the way. Good luck for this year!

  6. These sound like very sensible resolutions. Good luck with them all! I've been trying to get into listening to audiobooks but I'm so hesitant because I feel like I'll just zone out and have to keep rewinding. I'm terrible at multitasking! And I can also read faster with my own eyes... But I'm hoping to borrow some from the library to try out!

  8. Nice resolutions!! I'm awful when it comes to borrowing books too... I always craft one reason or another to put it off until later, and then I sometimes don't even read it then. It's ridiculous lol.

I'm safe on NetGalley though - I don't let myself download books unless I can read them in the upcoming month. (Of course, I am not cool enough for them to send me their books unprompted, which helps. ;) )

I wish you the best with your resolutions! Happy New Year!

  9. Once you start reading three or more at once, things get pretty complicated... Hope you do well with your goals. :)

  10. I need another shelf myself! I also am currently working on 8 books…..different formats for different times so that kind of works lol. Some other great things on your list I need to work on some of them myself! Good luck this year!
