Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and is a chance for everyone to get to know fellow bloggers and share lists. I love lists. Every week is a different list.
This week is Top Ten Reasons I Love Being A Blogger/Reader.
Below are my top ten, in no particular order.
- Free BooksI'm not gonna lie, this is a huge draw for me. Why? Because I'm pretty darn poor and always have been, and the library just can't keep up with my insatiable appetite for books.
- I Love EscapingIs there anything better than escaping into a good book, just dropping yourself into another world? No, there isn't. Unless you also have a cup of tea on the go.
- Meeting Other BloggersI freaking LOVE all you guys. I love reading as many blogs as I can each day and leaving comments when I can. Interacting is my favourite part of blogging. Love-A-Thon was great this past weekend for finding even more book-obsessed friends to talk books with.
- All The PrettiesEvery day I get to look at the most gorgeous book covers and blogs and promo images. I love watching the trends in book covers change in each genre.
- Reviews
I love reviewing and reading the reviews others post. It's the main way I discover more awesome books to read. And I love how different people rate different books differently (isn't that confusing?) and how star ratings are different for everyone. - Blog Tours
I love tracking the progress of book tours, I love hosting them, I love the hype that builds up and I love finding new books. I'd say 1/4 of the new books I read are found via book tours. - Chatting Books
I can't stop talking about books. Seriously. My OH's eyes glaze over and he just stares (he's not a book fan - boo!) but my friends are pretty bookish and my mum is too. "HAVE YOU READ THIS? OMG IT'S SO GOOD" is one we often yell at each other. - Author Events
These are just so much fun, even though I prefer to be a wallflower and don't say anything. At all. Until it gets to the end and I corner the author with my stack of books to sign - Being Inspired
Reading inspires me to try new things - whether it's food or a new place or an alcoholic beverage, if I read it I generally want to give it a go if it sounds nice. - Goodreads
I review mostly on Goodreads because I'm obsessed. I'm on several times a day, up-dating on the go from my Kindle or my phone. I'm commenting, reviewing, listing, liking, chatting and just having lots of fun.
Interacting with other bloggers is one of my favourite things to do as well. I really like this meme because of that. It's lovely to visit other blogs!
ReplyDeleteYes, memes are the best way I've found for interacting and making new friends :)
DeleteSo true (all of them!). I have book covers on my list as well. Isn't it funny how you can tell the genre from the cover? I suppose that's what it's there for :P
ReplyDeleteMy TTT: http://theloonyteenwriter.wordpress.com/2014/02/18/top-ten-tuesday-ten-reasons-i-love-being-a-reader/
Reading does inspire us, I think. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Why I Love Being a Reader/Blogger/Librarian!
Love your list too. And you totally showed me how much more there can be done as a book lover/blogger/reader. And I'm waiting for the day when I can get free books too!
ReplyDeleteI am on Goodreads constantly as well!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I love Goodreads, too. Maybe one day I can see myself not blogging, but I can't see myself ever giving up Goodreads. I really like your point about watching how covers of a specific genre change over time. I think that's really interesting, too.
ReplyDeleteMy computer tells me that Goodreads is my most visited page, which I always thought was kind of hilarious. Now I know I'm not alone in my obsessive visiting there! (:
ReplyDeleteGoodreads didn't quite make it on my list, which is weird given that I spend most of my time there. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you on all of these! I pretend not to mention it, but the free books is something I really adore. I'm broke as broke, so it's nice to keep up to date on new releases. And I just LOVE promoting them! Goodreads...oh yes, Goodreads is my obsession.
ReplyDeleteGoodreads is another reason I love being a reader. It's my facebook :D
ReplyDeleteAnyone who says the free books are not a part of the appeal of book blogging is fooling themselves. It's not my favorite thing by any means, but I do like that little perk. :) Thanks for visiting my TTT, and for complimenting my designs. :) It means a lot to me!
ReplyDelete- Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl
Absolutely 1-3 :D
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, author and other bookish events, and even Goodreads as well, though it's annoying me lately a little.
Good list!
Haha, bravo to you for fessing up to loving free books. I love reading books before they're published. It makes me feel like I'm seeing into the future, as nutty as that sounds.
