For Book Beginnings, Rose City Reader invites us to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
Oh look, a fun new feature! This one is so so interesting, I've been lurking around it for a while now and I'm finally jumping in. Here goes.
I'm currently reading Wicked Little Secrets by Kara Taylor.
They say only the good die young. At least, that's what they used to say about Isabella Fernandez.
This book is the second in a series, so I already know what I'm getting into and I'm familiar with what's happened before, so this sentence just brings back all of the events of the previous book and I had to sit and consider it all again before I could properly get reading.
I'm about half way through now and loving it, it's filled with mystery and suspense and there's a hint of romance and scandal. Perfection.
This one is new to me. I'm glad you are enjoying it. Thanks for visiting my blogs. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteMystery, suspense, romance, and scandal. What more could you ask from a book?
ReplyDeleteI haven't read anything by this author. I'm glad you like it!
ReplyDeleteI love it when I find a series I enjoy and want to read on and on. Have fun.

ReplyDeleteHi Cora,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, thank you so much for stopping by Fiction Books this week. I love meeting new people, so your vists will always be welcome and your comments always appreciated.
Also, it is great that you have found this excellent meme and decided to join in. For me, the first lines of a story are really important, as they help set the whole style and scene of what is to come.
Whilst all three books in this series sound great, they aren't really 'calling' to me, to add them to my list. The covers look amazing, so vibrant and bright and your first lines are really quite intriguing. I can always remember my parents using the phrase "only the good die young"!
I hope that you enjoy the conclusion of the series and have a great weekend, even though the weather doesn't sound too great for Sunday :)
Yvonne
Cover lis reminiscent of Sweet Valley! Right now I'm in between books so trying to decide what to read ... something serious? something fun? it'll come to me, i know ;)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this series, but that beginning has me wondering if I should start it!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great. AND I DO LOVE GRIPPING FIRST SENTENCES :P I'd love to give it a try. Great post!
ReplyDeleteLove your description of the series--enjoy!
