Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and is a chance for everyone to get to know fellow bloggers and share lists. I love lists. Every week is a different list.
This week is Top Ten Books That Celebrate Diversity/Diverse Characters.
I actually found this list quite difficult - it's not something I'd actually focus on when I'm reading, how diverse the characters are... I just read. So this is probably the hardest list I've had to do this year, what's diverse to one person is the norm to another. And this book blogger has a lesbian single mother for a sister.
What even is diversity anyway? I used this definition:
It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies.
- The Parasol Protectorate (Series) by Gail Carriger
- Rani and Sukh by Bali Rai
- Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman
- Megan by Mary Hooper
- Kissing the Rain by Kevin Brooks
- Pirates! by Celia Rees
- Salvage by Keren David
- Sundowners by Leslie Lokko
- Harry Potter (Series) by JK Rowling
- The Murder Wall by Mari Hannah
You have a lot of variety, and they definitely qualify as diverse books. Great list!

I've read the first Parasol Protectorate book and it was a lot of fun - I didn't even think of adding it to this list! Great picks.
