Blog Tour: Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp

Best friends Corey and Kyra were inseparable in their snow-covered town of Lost Creek, Alaska. When Corey moves away, she makes Kyra promise to stay strong during the long, dark winter, and wait for her return.

Just days before Corey is to return home to visit, Kyra dies. Corey is devastated - and confused. The entire Lost community speaks in hushed tones about the town's lost daughter, saying her death was meant to be. And they push Corey away like she's a stranger.

Corey knows something is wrong. With every hour, her suspicion grows. Lost is keeping secrets - chilling secrets. But piecing together the truth about what happened to her best friend may prove as difficult as lighting the sky in an Alaskan winter...

You can read my thoughts on the sampler here, and below I get to ask Marieke Nijkamp a question about her own reading habits...

Before I Let Go is your second YA novel.
Which contemporaries do you like to read?

Oh, all sorts! I love reading thrillers, unsurprisingly. But I also love humour and romance. I love slice-of-life stories and stories that take place within minutes.

  • I love the pure magic of Anne-Marie McLemore’s words. Seriously, it may not technically count as contemporary, but Before I Let Go doesn’t entirely either. Just read everything she’s ever written.

Head on over to Twitter where I have a UK giveaway to win a copy of Before I Let Go.

  1. I REALLLLLLLY want to read this book! Great post! :)

  2. Oh oh oh I read about this author! She's Dutch! Proud moment for Dutch bookworms around the world, including myself. The difficult thing for me is that I don't know if I should read her books in Dutch or English, hahaha.

  3. This sounds so dark and intriguing! Of the books Marlene mentions, I'd like to read Love, Hate and Other Filters at some point as I think it sounds fantastic.

  4. I've heard this title batted around so many times, but this is the first I've had a chance to read about what's about. Sounds so interesting! It's definitely going on my "to-read" list. It's also always so interesting to hear from authors, and hear what they love to read. Great post! Thank you so much for sharing!

  5. So sad I didn't get a copy of this at YALC! The concept sounds like an even darker 'We Are Okay' (Nina Lacour) - sounds fab! @MaddieandBee

  6. This one sounds pretty good!!! The cover is very eye catching.
