Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and is a chance for everyone to get to know fellow bloggers and share lists. I love lists. Every week is a different list.
This week is Top Ten
Books I’d Give Different Titles To
I'm keeping it short and sweet this week, but here we go! Ten books with titles that I think should be changed. Because although I'm a fan of the books I'm not a fan of the titles!
- Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer by Katie Alender
- I don't know what I'd change it to, but I'd change it. The story itself is as absurd as the title, but I don't think the title fits well.
- Christmas At The Palace by Jeevani Charika
- Does it count if it's already been changed? I feel like the title makes it seem like it's just a Christmas story when really it's not.
- Lockwood & Co (series) by Jonathan Stroud
- I just want some recognition for my girl Lucy, OK? She should be front and centre on the cover and the title you cowards.
- Wait For Me by Caroline Leech
- It just doesn't have much bearing on the story and I think something else would have been a better fit.
- Fashionistas (series) by Sarra Manning
- This series deserved so much more, and I have such incredible love for it. I think something that dragged it down a bit was the title - it makes it seem more superficial than it is, when it's actually an incredibly deep and significant series.
- Shades of Milk and Honey by Mary Robinette Kowal
- I just really dislike the title, OK?
- Royals by Rachel Hawkins
- I am so glad that this on has actually been renamed, I think that Prince Charming suits it much better!
- Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Abertalli
- Not gonna lie, part of the reason it took me so long to read this book is the title. Let's be honest, it sucks.
- Mirror Mirror by Cara Delevingne
- I just really don't like the title, and I'm not altogether sure why.
- Internet Famous by Danika Stone
- I feel like the title is just a bit of a cop out, and it could have been much more creative and in line with the story itself.
Which books would you give different titles to?
Great list! I must admit I quite like the title Shades of Milk and Honey, but I don't really think it suits that book very well at all so I'd probably rename that one, too.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like the Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda title either!

Yeah, I must agree about Simon vs. But I'm not too sure to what I would change it.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the title Internet Famous either.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.
Internet Famous, wonder what that's about....... hahaha
ReplyDeleteI agree about Simon and they did change it with the Dutch translation to Love, Simon. Short but sweet, haha.
ReplyDeleteWhen they released the film, the tie in books were Love,Simon and I much preferred it!
DeleteThe Simon title sucks! Also shades of milk and honey makes me feel quite ill! Great list!
ReplyDeleteI think that's exactly why I don't like it, it makes me feel queasy.
DeleteYeah Simon Vs is a weird title! Love, Simon from the film is definitely better I think.

Good list! I'll be honest, I skipped over the Fashionistas series for the exact reason that you mentioned - it sounded like it would be something shallow and superficial at it's root and that's not something I'm interested in.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I'd absolutely recommend it - it's a fantastic series that was ahead of its time and deserves more recognition.
DeleteShe should have just named that book Simon. It's what we all call it anyways because that title is way too long.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.
Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer sounds like an interesting story, but if it doesn't match the contents, then it probably should be changed. Shades of Milk and Honey doesn't really sound all that exciting either.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting a historical murder caper and... It's definitely not that! It's contemporary drama and murder ghosts.
DeleteGreat list! I had such a hard time with this week's theme I did something else instead!
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten Tuesday!
Happy reading! :)
Pulling a name out of history does not a story make. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteLove Lockwood! But you're right, Lucy needs more credit! I kind of liked Shades of Milk and Honey when I first heard it, but it had absolutely nothing to do with the story.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Wait for Me? Too needy. Royals is vague. And Internet Famous? No, I just don't like it.
ReplyDeleteNice list! Yeah, I couldn't really think of better titles either! I couldn't even think of a full ten either as generally, the titles I've read have been pretty good or just somewhere in the middle where I neither love nor hate them. Lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my TTT!
I forgot all about Mirror, Mirror, and I was going to read that one too! I was curious about Delavinge writing a book. And shades of Milk and Honey- yeah I'm not a fan of that title either.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I one HUNDRED percent read the first book on your list BECAUSE of its cracktastic title, and I love saying it out loud in a super dramatic, capslock-emphasis-on-the-last-two-words tone. It's been fascinating to see people's differing opinions this week on things I've never thought twice about.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely agree about Lockwood and Co. would love to see Lucie in there somewhere
ReplyDeleteYour comments about Fashionista really make that book all the more interesting, because the title really does make it sound light.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that Christmas at the Palace isn't a Christmas story. I like the title of Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda. I love that it was pulled from his emails with Blue. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a good list of titles to change. Simon Vs is a long winded title and could definitely be edit from changing.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the title of Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda but I did like that the movie was just Love, Simon.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree on the Royals books, also the new covers are so much better too!
ReplyDelete- Kate xo
I much prefer the Love, Simon title of the movie to the book, it's just a bit of a mouthful otherwise!
