I don't tend to set out resolutions as such - doing that tends to set myself up for failure and that isn't the best way to start a new year. Nevertheless, I am going in to a new decade with some things I'd like to accomplish.
So here are some of my goals going forward...
Keep up a Bullet Journal
It's always something I've wanted to do, and something I've liked the look of. I spend hours gazing at other people's spreads and marvelling at their organisation. And now I'm going to try it myself. For me there is another layer to it as well - I want to keep better track of my general health and MS symptoms. I see a specialist every four months and I've invariably forgot what it's been like since I last saw them, and having it documented in a journal will definitely be a huge help. It'll also let me spot triggers and trends. So I have a pretty dark blue Leuchtturm1917 dotted notebook.Try More Gin
This is just for fun, really. I love most gins (there are a few big brand exceptions. Blergh) and yet I often find myself drinking the same few over and over. As much as I love Caorunn and Steampunk, I feel like I should give more small distilleries a go.Read More Mindfully
I have a tendency to get caught up in reading and just read. I set myself challenges and fret over my TBR. I end up not enjoying reading as much when I get to the end of the year, and it leads to slumps throughout the year. I took a complete break from reading between Christmas and New Year because of this. This year, I want to be more thoughtful about what I read and read only what I truly want to. Wish me luck!Love Myself
This is the big one, the one that will take most of my time and focus. And yet, I can't wait. There will be lots of little things that play into this, like generally trying to be more positive and optimistic. I am filling my Instagram feed with body positive beauties, so if you have any recommendations then please let me know!
What are your goals for 2020?
These are lovely goals. Definitely try more gin! If you need a gin drinking friend, I am here. I love the reading more mindfully instead of focusing on numbers. How did you find your reading break?
ReplyDeleteThe reading break is the reason I need gin haha it was so hard! I think I'll have to explore the gin lab at Decantus.
DeleteI hope we get a peek at your Bullet Journal, I love the idea and the look but I'm not that artsy. Also there is always time for self love and gin.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year hun x

I am not artsy at all haha it's all washi tape to make it pretty xD
DeleteI'm also starting my reading and blog journal this year. I'm not that artsy so I hope it looks good.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with setting goals instead of resolutions. My goals are mainly the same as last year - move to London, find a job I like, hopefully meet my dream girl and get fitter. I failed last year so fingers crossed this year! Good luck with your goals - thanks for sharing x
ReplyDeleteI think these are great goals. I particularly like the one about being mindful of what you read. I had an underwhelming reading year last year, quality wise, and I'd like to avoid that this year if possible.
ReplyDeleteGreat goals! I started bullet journalling, but found it was taking me too long to make it look the way I wanted, so I'm paring it back this year. Trying more gin sounds like fun and reading more mindfully is something I think I could benefit from too - such a mood reader that is stresses me out when I need to read something for a certain date. Good luck achieving all your goals for 2020!
ReplyDeleteReading more mindfully is a great goal to have. I think doing *anything* mindfully is worth thinking about because like you with reading, we can so easily just get caught up in things and go through the motions x

Replace gin with beer and you've got one of my goals ;) I haven't had resolutions since 2013. In 2014 I swithed to goals, which worked fine until last year when I couldn't come up with any goals...

I love your goals so much!! I'm trying to keep my goals list short. My biggest goal is to pay back a loan. Another goal is to be more selfish and say no more. I spent far too much time in 2019 doing things I really didn't want to do just because I knew it would make others happy.
ReplyDeleteTry more gin is officially my favourite new years resolution!I hope you have a brilliant year.
ReplyDeleteI love your goals for the year! I really hope you achieve them!
ReplyDeleteI'm also trying to get into bullet journaling after swooning over everyone else's recently. I've just got some stencils and pencils (my artistic talent is dreadful!) and I'm hoping to use it to help me keep on top of things. Best of luck with these goals - they're great ideas!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to stick to my bujo too this year! Definitely trying to be more intentional with my books too :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your goals! The last one is so important!
ReplyDeletei 100% agree with wanting to read more mindfully! :)
