Book Review: A Midnight Kiss to Seal the Deal by Sophie Pembroke

Earlier this year, I read Awakening His Shy Cinderella by Sophie Pembroke and I absolutely loved it - in that story we got the barest glimpse of Celeste and Theo and I needed more.

As soon as A Midnight Kiss to Seal the Deal by Sophie Pembroke came out I bought it, and it was a gorgeous read for Betwixtmas.

A Midnight Kiss to Seal the Deal by Sophie Pembroke cover Mills & Boon

5 Word Review: Family, fame, reputation, secrets, love.

I was between books and in a bit of slump, with no real inspiration when I picked this up. And I'm so glad I did because the spark in this book brought out the spark in me, and I couldn't stop reading.

I absolutely love a fake-dating story, because the real feelings always surface. I love the anticipation, the slow build, the realisation. A Midnight Kiss to Seal the Deal does it perfectly.

Celeste is confident and smart and driven - she's a bit of a force of nature. Despite that she's also unsure of herself. I loved the layers to her character, how all was not as it seemed.

Theo is a lot deeper than he seems and I loved it - he has hidden depths and I loved seeing them revealed as the story progressed. He's a pretty fun personality, despite his family life. And when he and Celeste come together? Yes.

I could read about Celeste and Theo forever, they're an excellent couple and I loved how they came together. The chemistry was incredible, and their relationship was so easy to believe.

'I couldn't start the new year without you,' she shouted, the words hitting his heart.

  1. I love the phrase Betwixtmas, that's such a bookish word! I'm glad you enjoyed this book and that it was a worthy successor to the first one :)

  2. How would a media disaster force these two people into a fake relationship as a way to fix it?

  3. Ahh this sounds really delightful! I love a book that really gives you a spark back and it sounds like this did the trick. I haven't heard of the author before but will have to keep my eyes open for this. Great review!

  6. The cover makes me want to read it and your reveal is what sealed the deal for me :-)

  7. A Midnight Kiss to Seal the Deal sounds like an interesting book - a lot of relationships might have been fake for the sake of publicity. Though, it's great when the couple just make things seem to work in this situation. Thanks for sharing!
