After I finished the previous book in the 200 Harley Street series, I waited a fair while before picking up The Enigmatic Surgeon by Annie Claydon. And I don't know why, because I loved this story too, and I raced through it.
When opposites attract...
Edward North - child prodigy turned genius microsurgeon - has no idea how attractive women find him!
Hours spent researching and saving lives leaves little time for socialising. Until an adorable little boy wanders into his office, followed by his frantic mum, nurse Charlotte King, and they turn his world upside-down!
Charlotte’s never allowed herself to act on her feelings for devastatingly gorgeous Edward - her life is complicated enough!
But when everything begins to fall apart this enigmatic surgeon is the only man she can turn to...

It seems that I can't get enough of the 200 Harley Street series. I would absolutely recommend it to any fan of romance. I never thought that medical romances would be for me, but honestly the care shown by the characters in every aspect of their lives is so freaking heart-warming. I can't. I'm just full to bursting.
Charlotte is so caring and generous. She's had a rough time of it, her ex really was a piece of work. It amazing to watch her heal and grow into the person she was kept from being.
Edward is both brilliant and awkward - professionally, he's a marvel. He's amazing at his job and with his patients and colleagues. Personally though? He's rather stinted, a product of his upbringing. He grew up too fast and missed out on a lot in life, and I loved seeing him interact with Charlotte's precious son. It was like he was exploring the childhood he missed out on.
I loved how much Edward and Charlotte did for each other, and how by being together they balanced the other out. Charlotte bloomed by Edward's side, and I loved it. I also loved how Edward tried to fix things for Charlotte, and make her see her worth.
This was a really lovely story, and I'll absolutely be reading more by Annie Claydon
Next up, The Shameless Maverick by Louisa George.
